Astoria Area Chamber of Commerce

Pres. Bridges called the meeting to order at12:01 p.m. There were 9 members present.

The treasurer’s report showed a current balance of $2633.16. Barry Beck made the motion to accept the treasurer’s report with Arletha Dowacter seconding.

The minutes from the January meeting were read. Kathleen Behymer made the motion to accept the minutes as read and Sally Bair seconded.

Committee Reports:

The Wildlife/Quilting/Craft Expo is in the final planning stages. There will be 10 vendors for the Wildlife side and 7 vendors on the Craft/Quilting side. Anyone who would like to display a quilt should contact Arletha at Country in the Attic. Quilts should be brought to the high school between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on March 6. They must be picked up after 6:00 that evening. If you can help set up that morning or man the ticket table any time during the day, please contact Bob Bridges or Ryan Baker. Raffle tickets for the quilt are still available for Chamber businesses. It was voted to purchase 3 $20 gift certificates, one from the Dairy Dipper, one from Klide’s and one from Hamblins to be used as prizes for the drawing. Anyone who brings a mounted deer head, fish or turkey will be entered into this drawing.

Barry Beck reported on his meeting with Fulton County Tourism committee. Fulton County and Peoria County are joining forces to develop tourism in the two counties mainly around the Wilder Farm area. More information will be made available at a later date.

It was announced that Cruise Night has been set for July 17 and the Astoria Homecoming will be September 18.

President Bridges appointed Kathleen Behymer, Nancy Carithers and Barry Beck to the nominating committee. This committee will present names to be placed in nomination for the Board of Directors. Terms expiring this year are: Nancy Carithers, Bob Bridges, Marty Bair and Barry Beck. New Board members will be seated in April.
