Astoria Area Chamber of Commerce
October 9, 2003
Pres. Bridges called the
meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. There
were 7 members present and 3 guests.
The treasurer’s report showed
a current balance of $2881.79. Barry Beck made the motion to accept the treasurer’s
report with Bonnie White seconding.
The minutes from the October
meeting were read. Arletha Dowacter
made the motion to accept the minutes as read and Bob Bridges seconded.
Committee Reports:
Retail and Promotion – Carriage night is set and ready to go on Friday, November 21 from 6:00 – 8:00. Astoria Buck drawings will take place at 7:00. Top prize will be $300. The PTO will be offering food for sale and the After Prom will have a theme basket raffle.
The Big Buck contest has been advertised and entries are starting to come in. If you haven’t entered, contact Bob Bridges or Ryan Baker. This year’s contest will be shotgun only.
A Tour of Homes will be held this year on Dec. 18 and 19th. More information to follow. If you would like to have your home included, please contact Arletha Dowacter. Tickets will be $5.00 per person and may be purchased from paticipating members. A list of members will be published in the South Fulton Argus.
The Christmas lighting contest has been advertised. Entry fee is $5.00 if you would like to have your home judged. A list of all participating homes including those being judged and not being judged will appear in the South Fulton Argus. Anyone in the Astoria School District is eligible to participate.
Memory Wreathes will be on sale at member businesses on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22. See article in the South Fulton Argus for details.
Frank Antonucci and Martha Hessler representing Illinios Rural Affairs were present to explain a grant that is being applied for and asking for our participation. Gary Sheets made a motion to participate and Bonnie White seconded. We hope to hear from them soon.
