Astoria Area Chamber of Commerce
November 13, 2003
Pres. Bridges called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. There
were 13 members present.
The treasurer’s report showed
a current balance of $2450.82. Gary Sheets made the motion to accept the
treasurer’s report with Nancy Carithers seconding.
The minutes from the October
meeting were read. Barry Beck made the motion to accept the minutes as read and
Sally Bair seconded.
Committee Reports:
Retail and Promotion – Carriage night is ready to go on Friday, November 21 from 5:00 – 7:00. Astoria Buck drawings will take place between 7:00 and 7:15. Prizes totaling $1000 will be given away. The PTO have the Krispy Kremes orders ready for delivery and the After Prom will have a theme basket raffle. A table will be set up to take entries for the Christmas Lighting contest and the Memorial Wreathes will be available at Country in the Attic and Special Occasions.
The Big Buck contest entries need to be placed by Thursday, Nov. 20. If you haven’t entrered, contact Bob Bridges or Ryan Baker. This year’s contest will be shotgun only.
There are seven homes for the Tour of Homes to be held this year on Dec. 18 and 19th. If you would like to have your home included, please contact Arletha Dowacter. Tickets will be $5.00 per person (except babes in arms) and may be purchased at Country in the Attic, Special Occasions, Farmers State Bank or Ipava State Bank.
The Christmas lighting contest has been advertised. Entry fee is $5.00 if you would like to have your home judged. A list of all participating homes including those being judged and not being judged will appear in the South Fulton Argus. Anyone in the Astoria School District is eligible to participate. Judging will take place the evening of Dec. 11.
The Wildlife/Quilting/Craft Expo was discussed. The Expo will be held on March 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Astoria CUSD building. There will be approx. 50 vendors/exhibitors set up in the high school gym. Crafting and Quilting vendors are needed for the grade school gym. Contact Arletha at Country in the Attic or Kathleen Behymer at Special Occasions if you would like to book a space.
The chamber approved the ad for the Christmas edition of the South Fulton Argus along with the Carriage Ride Night ad.

It was approved until further notice to move the meeting time to the second Tuesday of every month at noon in the town library. Bring your own lunch.
Ryan Baker made the motion to adjourn the meeting and Gary Sheets seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
